Library [1-8]
It was Dan's first day in the library and he was just as nervous and excited as you would imagine a spastic geek like him would be. After spending a couple of minutes getting to know the place, he sat behind the front desk with a book and a cup of coffee, ready to help people in any way he could. |

Business 102: Friday, Period 3, Class 1
As his students wandered in, Jim possibly started to have second thoughts about this class topic. Sure, office work was horrible. But there really was a lot to be learned and experienced from working in a business. Maybe, just maybe, he should rethink things and give a different view of the business world. But that would require coming up with a new syllabus, so Jim just went ahead with the class he had planned. "Good morning and welcome to Business 102. I'm Mr Halpert, but a couple of you already knew that. What you probably didn't know is that before I came to Fandom, I was one of the top salesmen for a mid-sized paper supply company based in northeast region of the US. I was actually just about to transfer from the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch to the Stamford, Connecticut branch with a promotion to Assistant Regional Manager before I remembered that I really didn't want to turn a job at that company into a career. And taking a promotion is a convenient way to do just that." "The basic point is that I really didn't like working there, but I did it for years thanks to a combination of doing as little work as possible, getting other people to help me not do work, being good enough at my job to not get fired, and having the least productive boss in the world. And except for that last one that you just need to get lucky with, I'm here to teach you all of that to help you survive at a crappy, crappy office job that you might end up having." "So, let's start by doing introductions just like you've done every other day this week. And while you're telling everyone your name and class, go ahead and also tell us what career you think you'll have after school." "Oh, and don't mind the camera guy. It's his job to film me working." |

Study Hall | Friday
He'd heard there'd been a standard set for this whole study hall thing, where he was meant to bring pastries and drinks. Well, Ronon brought pastries. And coffee. While the coffee and bran muffins were free to all, the doughnut box was next to his computer. And sadly, that box was empty. His facial hair was dotted with powdered sugar, indicating where those doughnuts had gone. [And thus ends my role as dirty, spamming whore for tonight!] Current Mood: relaxed |

Student Council | Friday Lunchtime
Barney banged his gavel on the table to get his little stuco minions' attention. "Well, I hope you all enjoyed the trip to New York as much as I did, but now we're back and you had classes, blah blah boring talk, let's focus on how you, as representatives of your classes, are going to make your mark on Fandom in twenty-ten." Yes, he was going with the Awesome way of saying the year. Thousands were for the lame. "And as requested, pizza." Because it was there on the table, this being lunchtime and all. Law and Order: Interdimensional Edition - Week One
Gibbs stood in front of the classroom surrounded by coffee makers, his fellow teachers and... Ralph. "Welcome to class," he said after the students had taken their seats. "This semester we are combining most of the law enforcement resources here on the island to provide you with the benefit of all our years of experience. Except for Ralph. He's here to take attendance." Right now the trooper was glaring and making faces at Gibbs behind his helmet. Gibbs really didn't care. "By now you should be tired of introducing yourselves," Gibbs continued, "And if you think that means you get to skip it this time... you're wrong. We're all going to introduce ourselves, instructors included, and tell everyone what we hope to achieve in this class." Gibbs then pointed at a random person. "You first." When that was done, Gibbs took his position again at the front of the classroom. "Now that we've finished we're going on to talk about possibly the most useful and practical skill you can ever have in law enforcement. It is not only the most important tool an officer can have but it is a skill that everyone should be familiar with." ( And what would that be? )[OCD is up!] |

Library [1-07]
George finished shelving the books quickly and the other little library tasks. It seemed like there were more on a weekday than Saturday, but he so wasn't going to complain about getting his Saturdays free now. He settled down behind the desk finally with a mug of hot chocolate (it had been so nice to come back to Fandom and be able to have the stuff again) and a selection of books, some about the US Justice system (thank you, Miss Cabot) and some about famous mobsters. |

Modeling for Dummies, Thursday 1/7/10
The classroom was empty except for Deadpool's desk. Because this was the beginning of a special journey and chairs only got in the way of it. ...look, if he was gonna be Tyra, he needed to come up with random things the kids couldn't have this time around. For funsies. And to lure in the readers. Hello readers. Are you enjoying the post so far? No? You want more introductions? You're a cruel person. "So," Deadpool said, ignoring any slurs against those who saw this on their F-list. "Welcome to Modeling for Dummies. In this class, you'll learn the way to succeed in a high pressure situation that wouldn't happen except for on TV, with challenges that have no real bearing on obstacles in your future careers." A beat. "Unless you come from some crazy ass world. Then maybe." He continued on, trying not to dwell on those insane worlds. Really, it was for the best that he never met Karla. Magic cock rings. "So, since everyone has been doing introductions everywhere before this, let's assume I don't care about your names, hopes, dreams or grade. Because that would probably be true. I don't care. But I say that with love. Instead of something that will make ya'll get with the drinking game, I want everyone to pick a classmate and make up some random crap about them that would make them an edgy model. I'll go first!" Oh yeah, this'll end well. "One time, Chuck Bass beat a hobo to death, but then realized the error of his ways and became a priest. It was a touching life lesson that we can all learn from." One day, people would learn not to allow him to teach. One day. "Oh, and mini-me. TA. Have fun with the job." |

Magic for Dummies | Period One | Class One
Paige decided that the Elders hated her for arranging for her to teach first period. She had a cup of coffee in hand as her students filed in and there was an urn of coffee set up on a desk right inside the door if anyone else needed it. After everyone had arrived, she moved to the front of the room and smiled at them. "Good morning. I'm Paige Matthews and this is Magic for Dummies. Which is not to say that I think any of you are dumb, by the way. It's just a riff on that book series." Focus, Paige. "Anyway, there are copies of the syllabus for all of you. If there's something you want to cover that isn't on there, let me know and I'll add it." She handed out the sheets, took a sip of her coffee and leaned against the edge of the desk. "Okay, so what is magic? It's not parlor tricks or sleight-of-hand. It's not top hats and rabbits. Magic is a powerful tool and is most often associated with the elements. My home in San Francisco sits on top of a spiritual nexus which is equidistant from natural sources of the five elements: earth, fire, wind, water and metal. That makes it a powerfully magical place. My family has controlled that location for a hundred years in order to keep evil from drawing on the nexus." Paige paused and realized she was getting a bit ahead of herself. "Oh, yeah, I'm a witch. And also a guardian angel. I have two sisters that some of you may know of because alternate universe versions of them went to school here - Piper and Phoebe Halliwell. Anyway, the three of us are a powerful force of good magic. But enough about me. Today I want to learn about you. I know you're probably all tired of this, but I'd like you to give me your name, what, if any, personal experience you have with magic and why you're taking this class." |

History of Medicine - Second Period - Wednesday, 1/06
Professor Chevalier welcomed them into the Danger Shop with a rather normal classroom setting and a smile. One might wonder why he used the Danger Shop, since he wasn't doing anything particularly special this time around, but one need only look at the sunlight streaming into the fake room and the smile on his face to put two and two together. Once everyone was seated, he started passing around a copy of the syllabus. "Welcome, all of you, to the history of medicine. I'm not sure what you all expected of this class, but we'll be covering some of the more ancient beliefs, the origin of practices, as opposed to more... modern milestones. I certainly hope this isn't a problem." When he was done, he returned to the front of the class and leaned back against his desk. "Now, since this is the first class, we'll mostly be doing introductions and I will be looking for an assistant or two, if anyone is interested. But first," and he pointed to the closest person, "name, class, and either something interesting or why you decided to take the class." [ocd up!][TAs already selected OOCly] |

Love & Romance, Hollywood Style [Period 4, Class 1]
Drake walked into class with his own personal soundtrack, bopping his head to the music. "What is love?" he said, addressing the class when the music ended. "That's a good question. Love is a many splendored thing 1. Love bites, love bleeds, it's bringin' me to my knees 2. Love stinks 3. In the dead of night, love bites 4. Love is like oxygen: you get too much, you get too high, not enough and you're gonna die 5. Love is friendship set on fire 6. Love is the master key that opens the gates of happiness 7. Love is hard to get, impossible to hold, straight and narrow, like a burning fuse 8. Love hurts, love scars, love wounds and mars any heart 9. Love is like war: easy to begin but hard to end 6. Love is like quicksilver in the hand. Leave the fingers open and it stays. Clutch it, and it darts away 10. Love is the irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired 11. Love is a state of grace, transcending time and space 12. Love doesn't make the world go 'round; love is what makes the ride worthwhile 13. Love is a promise, love is a souvenir, once given never forgotten, never let it disappear 14. Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend 15. Love is a condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own 16. Light of the world, shine on me, love is the answer 17. Love is like a snowmobile flying over the frozen tundra that suddenly flips, pinning you underneath. At night the ice weasels come 18." Drake settled on the edge of his desk. "Love comes in all shapes and sizes, and in this class, we're going to look at some types of love that Hollywood is awfully fond of. There's obsessive love, tragic love, vengeful love, unrequited love, courtly love, destructive love, tough love, the love that dare not speak its name, and happily ever after love, just for example." He looked around the class. "Some of you I recognize, but for those of you who are new, I'm Drake Dèmon, Fandom High's Demon-in-Residence. You can call me Drake, or Oh Captain My Captain, or even Hey You. Now tell me your names, class, and reason you're taking this class. And whether you are in love or have been in love. And, since I'm still working on the syllabus, let me know if there's a particular flavor of love you want to see covered." 1 Frank Sinatra. 2 Def Leppard. 3 J. Geils Band. 4 Judas Priest. 5 Sweet. 6 Anonymous. 7 Oliver Wendell Holmes. 8 Alannah Myles. 9 Nazareth. 10 Dorothy Parker. 11 Mark Twain. 12 Britney Spears (shut up). 13 Franklin P. DADA for Muggles [period 3, Wednesday]
Remus was in high spirits today. Part of it was the new term. Part of it was that the full moon had been last week, and he was in the first week of a new cycle. It didn't matter -- either way, he was smiling congenially at the class as they filed in. "Good morning, and welcome to Defense Against the Dark Arts for Muggles. First, we need to define some important vocabulary. A muggle is what we call a non-magical person at home, though of course magic users are welcome in this class as well. You'll have to forgive any curiosity on my part. I'm still adjusting to the way other magic and wizards work in comparison to my own experiences." Sirius was already leaning against the desk he'd found so comfortable last semester, glancing around the room for familiar faces. Since no one seemed to be screaming and running from the room when they saw him, he was optimistic for a quiet term. "Dark Arts also seems to be defined differently, based on your own personal experiences," Sirius added. "We hope to find some common ground and help to provide you with some practical defenses for fighting evils of all kinds." Especially the DVD player. The evil, evil DVD player. "So, first, the introductions, which we're given to understand are customary on the first day." Remus gave Sirius a pleased, sidelong look. He was going to enjoy this. Though, out of kindness, he didn't ask their favorite subject in school. Sirius might have put an angered kneazle in his room as revenge. "So, your name, your favorite type of sweet, and what you consider a dark art. I'll go first. I'm Remus Lupin, I'm partial to Chocolate Frogs, and I think the dark arts comprise any number of practices that endanger lives or reduce the enjoyment thereof." He gave Sirius an expectant look. Sirius gave him a slightly sour one in reply. "I'm Sirius Black," he said, "I love Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans, and the dark arts also include curses, charms and hexes that hurt others or yourself." He pointed a finger at a student at random. "Your turn. And for the rest of you, no repeating what another student says. That means you'll have to listen to each other." He looked quite pleased with himself for thinking of that. See? He was getting the hang of this teaching bit. |

Library [01.5]
As was typical at the start of a semester, Anemone came tearing into the library moments before her shift. Two bags slung over her shoulder, ref board tucked under her arm, and Gulliver clinging to the back of her coat for dear life. The first bag got stashed under her desk, the ref board went up against the door for Special Collections, and Anemone shoved the lifting googles back up on to her hat so that she didn't look like a mad scientist. Needing to catch a portal that was up in the stratosphere was awesome, and yet so totally inconvenient. And shuttles were boring. The second bag was carefully opened up, and cookies and pie were put out on the front desk with a little sign saying ' Welcome New Students! Stop here first!' It was the easiest way Anemone had discovered to keep them from accidentally wandering off where they shouldn't go. The Fandom High Library is open, and the library aide is about, except for third period. [Follow the bouncing OCD!] |

Magical Ethics: Week 1, Period 1
Alysha was attempting to look like a real grown up teacher-person as she sat carefully behind her desk, waiting for all the students to arrive. At least she hadn't ended up teaching art. No matter what her dad had said about her skills with macaroni and glue, Alysha was totally confident that art was not for her. Ethics on the other hand, was pretty much hilarious given the Gales' approach to making the world bend around them. Usually not literally. She stood up once all the seats were filled. "Good morning, everyone," she said with a tiny smile. "I'm Alysha Gale, and this is Magical Ethics. If you're in the wrong class, you probably should leave now. If you're not awake yet cause it's too damn early, get more coffee next week." "In this class, we're to talk about the ethics of magical use. Do people who use magic or have innate powers or who can simply do things that others can't have certain obligations to the rest of society? Should magic users be treated differently? Should they have different kinds of rights? Just because you can create water out of thin air, is it your responsibility to do it when people are dying of thirst? If you can fly, is it your responsibility to catch someone falling?" Alysha raised an eyebrow. "Now from what I know of the school here, I'm guessing a lot of you are going to have different opinions on all this stuff, and that's totally cool. Have different opinions, argue, and actually talk about this shit - stuff. I don't give a crap if you're tactful, but keep it civil or leave. If you leave, come talk to me in my office hours or after class. I'm not reffing anyone dropping their gloves in here." That only happened at home when her cousins got overeager on the hockey rink. "Right," she surveyed the class, flexing her fingers and barely keeping from retracing the charm on the desk to allow her to hear any whispering in the classroom. "I'm told introductions are traditional on the first day, but whatever. We'll get to all of that. For now, I'd like you all to pair up and talk about what you think about this whole idea. What's ethical magic usage? Can you make a rain of frogs just for kicks? Can you change someone's mind to make things easier for yourself? For your country? Try it out and see where you all disagree. I'll be walking around and listening in. After class if Edmund Pevenise and Tony Foster would stop by to have a chat, I'd appreciate it." |

Living With Difficult Women [Tuesday, Period 5]
With his high level of expertise on the subject, Max hadn't really prepped for class today, or even looked at the class roster. He'd planned to simply launch into an introduction of the topic and outline the goals for the class. He walked in, smiled at his gathered students, and froze. There were difficult women in his class. Difficult women that he had not brought in to use as examples. He wasn't sure that revealing to them the secret techniques used to make living with them possible would be all that good an idea. After all, as difficult women they were sure to use their knowledge of such techniques to counter them, and make life more difficult for everyone involved. So, obviously, Max needed a plan. There had to be a way to deal with this problem, after all. Unfortunately he wasn't quick enough on his feet to come up with one on the spot. Max needed a distraction. Max needed... "That introduction thing. You all know how it works by now. Get to it. And I think that telling us why you're in this class would be helpful." How many of them were spies? |

Monomyths [Tuesday, January 5, Period 3]
The good thing about being a spy for over two hundred years was that you learned to fake things really well. Benefits to on-the-job seductions aside, it meant that right now, Cindy appeared to be a confident and relaxed veteran teacher of hundreds of classes. Although those classes were clearly taught at roughly the same time as Cindy looked far too young to teach a hundred anything back-to-back. She smiled at her class as they filed in and then rose to lean against the front of her desk to begin the lecture. “I’m Cindy Perrault--” ha ha, Bigby was so funny “--and welcome to Monomyths,” she said, giving the class a smile. “We’ll be discussing the masculine and feminine heroic journeys. Now, some of you may have heard of Joseph Campbell and his Hero’s Journey. This class is not about him and his ideas, unless I suddenly have a lot more time than I expect to. So those of you who have heard of Campbell, forget him and those of you who haven’t—-be grateful.” ( No, seriously. Nice enough guy until he started going on about all his pet theories. Ethics [Tuesday, January 5, 2nd period]
Anakin walked into his classroom precisely on time and gave the students assembled there an appraising glance--lingering a moment on a few faces--as the door clicked shut behind him. If you were late, you weren't getting in. "I'm Master Anakin Skywalker," he said in a voice that was intended to carry, "this is Ethics, and we're going to skip the introductions--I'll figure out who you are, if I don't recognize you already--and move straight to our first discussion." He paced around the room, cloak flaring out behind him, as he handed out the syllabus. "Today's topic," he said, pointing to the top of the page. "Self sacrifice: knowing the difference between saving people and being a pretentious twit." "Any time I ask a a group of people what they would do to save someone they love, they all blither on about how they would set the world on fire, lie, cheat, steal, kill, die, et cetera, et cetera. I've been at this school too long to believe that half of you haven't already been put into this situation and I'm in no mood to hear adolescent ramblings about how wonderful you were or might hypothetically be. Instead I want you to give me a concrete example of a time you admitted to yourself that a problem cannot be solved, and that sacrificing yourself wasn't a statement, but was merely pointless." His gaze swept the room. "How long does it take for you to realize you can't fix everything by yourself? Have you ever learned that lesson?" Current Mood: nervous |

Library, Monday
As promised, Gabrielle arrived bright and early at the library on the first day of her new shift and before doing anything else (well, setting the scroll she was working on down at the front desk) got the first of two pots of coffee brewing. Nobody had ever told her how much coffee to use, and the instructions about scoops that she'd read on the back of the first can she'd looked at sometime early last semester were not terribly helpful when that can hadn't had a scoop in it, so . . . she used a lot, dumping the grounds straight from the can into the filter with what she thought was a fairly practiced eye by now. There was something awfully fitting about starting off the first week of a new year -- by this era's standards, not hers at home -- and a new semester in the library, in her opinion. And the smell of the coffee made it seem a little cozier, which was nice; it hadn't been cold at all while she'd been home for break. |

Outdoor Fitness and Strategy [Monday, Period One]
The sun might have risen, but it was both early and cold enough that Bond's undisguised cheerfulness as he waited on the steps of the school for his class to finish assembling did not bode well for them. "Good morning," he began, with a smile that was in no way predatory. "I'm Professor Bond, and this is Outdoor Fitness and Strategy. Due to the fact this is the first class of the year, we'll be going relatively easy today, with introductions and a couple of fitness tests so you'll each have a baseline to compare improvements against at semester's end." "A few more things before we get started. Firstly, Kyle and Rose are your TAs," he said gesturing to them assuming they were around. "You may approach them as you would me, and in the case of my absence they have comparable authority to my own. Secondly, while you don't have to wear the eyesores masquerading as uniforms that Professor Dex is so very fond of in this class, I would advise that you wear durable, comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty as well as suitable footwear. In the case that an activity needs specialised clothing and equipment, it will be provided for you." Bond grinned again. "Finally, and most importantly, before we start with our introductions, we're going to warm up so we don't sprain something. Three laps around the school building, gentle jog. Four if you think you're up for it." [ooc: wait for ocd up!]
